TINA RAHIMI - A Pioneering Force
Tina began her boxing journey later in life compared to most athletes. She was 21 when she first joined a boxing gym and put on a pair of gloves. After her first boxing class – she instantly fell in love. She had her first boxing fight 6 months later and with consistent hard work – 4 years down the track, She became an Australian Champion and qualified to became the first Muslim female in a hijab to represent Australia at the Commonwealth games where she also secured a bronze medal.
Tina is an inspiration to many Muslim women and individuals who feel excluded from sports due to dress codes and other differences. Tina’s unwavering determination serves as an inspiration to many, she is breaking down barriers that have long prevented individuals from participating in sports. Her message is clear: It’s not about what you wear, but rather about how you perform – by prioritising performance over attire. Tina’s determination and advocacy are a step towards a more inclusive and diverse sports community, where everyone has the opportunity to compete at their best.
For Tina, wearing a hijab is not just a religious obligation, but a personal choice that reflects her values and beliefs.
